Dartmouth is pleased to support employees in their efforts to help our neighbors in this time of need. In response to the nearby flooding due to Hurricane Irene, the College will grant one day of paid leave to faculty and staff who volunteer for hurricane relief efforts.

The Tucker Foundation is sending out Dartmouth work crews today through Sunday, September 4, to assist with cleanup. For details, please email tracy.dustin-eichler@dartmouth.edu. Visit the Tucker Foundation website for more information about groups in need of assistance and updates on the developing relief efforts.

Requests for leave should be made to the appropriate dean or administrative department head with documentation supporting involvement in a volunteer organization. The dean or department head has the discretion to approve the scheduled leave day, based on the impact on teaching or operations. Leaves may be taken through the end of September 2011. The paid leave will be based on standard hours and will not count against time off balances. Please contact your Human Resources Consultant if you have any questions.

Many of you have expressed concern and a desire to help. We can all be proud to be part of such a generous and caring community.

Best regards,

Myron McCoo
