A classic contest between Vermont and New Hampshire high school football players is returning home.

Dartmouth College and the Shriners of New Hampshire and Vermont have announced that the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Game will be played at Memorial Field on the Dartmouth campus for each of the next three years beginning with the 59th annual game on Saturday, August 4, 2012. The game, which has taken place on the field 48 times previously, returns to the site after a three-year absence.

“I’m very excited about the revival of Dartmouth’s half-century tradition of hosting the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Game,” President Jim Yong Kim said. “It gives us a great chance, both as an institution and as individual employees, to show support for our regional community. We’re proud to make our facilities available to Vermont and New Hampshire high school athletes in recognition of their dedication to such an excellent cause as the Shriners Hospitals for Children.”
