Smart-Phone App Warns Pedestrians of Oncoming Cars (Technology Review)

Professor Andrew Campbell led a team of researchers from Dartmouth and the University of Bologna in developing an app that warns users of approaching vehicles.

Their WalkSafe app uses the rear-facing camera on Android phones to detect when a car is approaching at an unsafe speed. It runs only while the phone is being used for an active call.
