“What would be the practical consequences of a reduction in the minimum age of employment in the U.S.?” Edmonds asks. “Most likely, nothing good.”

Edmonds asserts the move would force unemployment higher and wages lower. In fact, he says, the national unemployment rate could rise to 13 percent.
