In January, the Hop sheds light on this miraculous organ in a multi-faceted program of events centering on the world premiere of Brain Storm, by Everett Dance Theatre, on Friday and Saturday, January 13 and 14, at 8 p.m., in the Moore Theater.
Combining dance, theater, and visual art, and based on a two-year residency at New Hampshire’s Crotched Mountain School as well as on a series of public discussions (dubbed “Brain Cafés”), Brain Storm explores the brain’s beauty and mystery through striking physicality and poetic imagery.
Three additional events shed further light on the topic:
- “Science on Tap” employee After Hours event at the Montshire Museum in Norwich, Vt., on Wednesday, January 11
- A free panel discussion between Everett directors and some of Dartmouth Medical School’s leading neuroscientists on Thursday, January 12
- A free presentation by a noted speech language pathologist about rehabilitation techniques (including those that involve the arts) for patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries or neurological disorders, on Friday, January 13.
