Gregg Meyer, an internationally known leader in health care quality and safety, has been named the senior associate dean for clinical affairs and the first holder of the Paul B. Batalden Chair in Health Care Leadership Improvement at Dartmouth Medical School. He has also been named to the newly created post of chief clinical officer and executive vice president for population health for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system.
Dr. Meyer comes to Dartmouth from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, where he is the senior vice president of the Edward P. Lawrence Center for Quality and Safety.
“Dartmouth-Hitchcock, together with Dartmouth Medical School and Dartmouth College, are moving forward with an exciting vision: a system of health that benefits patients and populations with new approaches to care and innovative care models,” said Meyer. “ … I feel this is a unique opportunity to effect real change in how we ensure health and deliver health care in the region and create a national model of what healthcare can and should be.”
Dartmouth Medical School Dean Wiley (Chip) Souba said, “Gregg’s skill and experience in quality and population health will be enormously valuable as we move ahead with curriculum reform at DMS, and the furthering of health care delivery science.”
