The “portable museum” includes miniature replicas, photographs, and color reproductions of eighty of the artist’s works.

A feature published by Seven Days explains the history and details of Duchamp’s Box in a Valise, and points to the expertise of Hood Museum of Art Director Michael R. Taylor. In referencing the valise acquired by Dartmouth, Taylor told Seven Days, “I’ve been a Duchamp scholar for 20 years, and this is the best one I’ve ever seen.”

Marcel Duchamp’s Box in a Valise is on display through August 26 at the Hood Museum of Art.
