[[{“type”:“media”,“view_mode”:“media_large”,“fid”:null,“attributes”:{“class”:“media-image alignright size-full wp-image-32393”,“typeof”:“foaf:Image”,“style”:“”,“width”:“100”,“height”:“100”,“alt”:“Minnesota Public Radio”}}]]During his 2011 Dartmouth Class Day address, Charles Wheelan ’88 offered the graduating class many words of advice, including “don’t make the world worse,” in a speech he called “Six Things No Commencement Speaker Has Ever Said.”

Wheelan, a visiting professor in the Department of Economics, has included the advice he gave during his speech last year in his new book, 10½ Things No Commencement Speaker Has Ever Said. In an interview with Minnesota Public Radio’s The Daily Circuit, Wheelan explained that prior to writing his speech, he asked himself, “What do I really wish, as I was sitting in the very same place that these students will be sitting, that somebody had said to me. That was the nature of my unconventional advice.”
