The Boston Globe writes about a British Medical Journal column by Professors Steven Woloshin and Lisa Schwartz of the Geisel School of Medicine and the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. In their column, Woloshin and Schwartz criticize the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation for its ad campaign that told women mammography screening is “key” to surviving breast cancer.

The Globe quotes Schwartz as saying, “It’s a misleading message implying that women only get bad breast cancer if they don’t have a mammogram. That’s not really true since the worst cancers can appear between mammograms.”
