On October 5 and 6, Dartmouth’s “Pressure of Light Symposium” will recognize the groundbreaking achievement of Nichols and Hull and celebrate the designation of the Wilder Physical Laboratory as an American Physical Society Historic Site.
Miles Blencowe, chair of the department of physics and astronomy, told the Union Leader, “People have been aware of this experiment, but it has never been properly recognized.”
The symposium, adds the Union Leader, includes lectures from renowned scientists, including Bill Phillips, the winner of the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics.
