Author Judy Stone writes in Scientific American about attending a “Medicine in Media” course sponsored by The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI), National Institutes of Health, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The purpose of the course was teaching media how to review and report correctly on medical findings, which, she writes, “is no easy feat.”
Leading the course were TDI’s Steve Woloshin and Lisa Schwartz. “I particularly like their systematic, standardized approach, illustrated by their summary of the value of CAT scans for lung cancer screening,” writes Stone.
