Your Kid Probably Doesn’t Need Antibiotics (The Atlantic)

Tim Lahey, an associate professor of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and Jessica Lahey write in an opinion piece in The Atlantic that despite the widespread use of antibiotics for children, people are often unaware of the harm these medicines can cause.

“Every year, more and more children with viral illnesses are given unnecessary antibiotics and, as a result, the bacteria floating around in our bodies get exposed to those antibiotics and evolve, gaining resistance to even our most powerful antibiotics,” they write.
