In an interview with Marketplace, Joshua Kim, the director of learning and technology for Dartmouth’s Master of Health Care Delivery Science program, talks about robo-grader—a new technology that grades student essays.

The technology, being launched by EdX, is not meant to replace feedback from teachers, Kim tells Marketplace, but can be used to encourage more students to write. “If a technology like this can introduce writing into large classes where the writing was not going on because the classes were too big, I think that’s a great technology.“

Kim continues, ”It’s only a tool, it’s a way to engage our students, to get them to think and participate and build.”
