Dartmouth Interim President Carol L. Folt was today named chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, The News & Observer reports.

UNC-Chapel Hill President Tom Ross said Folt, who will begin her new job July 1, has the “right mix of experience, expertise, skills, and passion to be a truly great chancellor at UNC-Chapel Hill,” the newspaper writes.

Educated at state universities in California, Folt said she was drawn back to the public sphere, the newspaper reports. “I am sure that we are going to work together to provide an education equal to any education in the world,” said Folt. “I’m sure that we’re going to work together to make sure that our students don’t simply learn what we know, but learn how to create what will be.”
