President Emeritus James Wright writes in The Atlantic that 60 years after the armistice agreement ending the 37-month-long Korean War, it’s clear that the conflict “set the pattern for multiple American wars to come.”

The conflict’s end was noted quietly in the United States, says Wright, who asks, “Is Korea still, as it was called then, the Forgotten War? Unfortunately, it still is. But it shouldn’t be. The objectives, the conduct, and the conclusion of that war are significant in too many ways. This anniversary provides an occasion to remember them, and to honor those who served in that war.”
