In a U.S. News & World Report opinion piece, Dartmouth’s Charles Wheelan ’88 suggests that President Obama, Republicans, aspiring 2016 presidential candidates, and American voters consider the following New Year’s resolutions:

  • “President Obama: Lead us.
  • “Republicans: Be a more effective and intellectually honest opposition party.
  • “Aspiring 2016 presidential candidates: Do not say anything now that will make it harder for you to govern later.
  • “American voters: Do something to improve the American political situation.”
Wheelan is a senior lecturer and policy fellow at the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and the Social Sciences and a senior lecturer in the Department of Economics.
