A Super-Giant Upset at Sochi Olympics (Los Angeles Times)

Andrew Weibrecht ’09 “stole silver from his back-of-the-snowpack No. 29 start position” during the men’s super-G race in Sochi on Sunday, February 16, writes the Los Angeles Times. The Olympic medal is the second for Weibrecht, who captured the bronze in the same event during the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Weibrecht’s time of 1:18.44 was three-tenths of a second behind gold medal winner Kjetil Jansrud of Norway. “I try not to focus on results,” Weibrecht tells the Times, “but I really needed a result to remind me, more than anything, that I’m capable of this.
