“The show is full of outstanding soloists,” says Walt Cunningham, the creator, director, and producer of Dartmouth Idol and the artistic director of the Dartmouth College Gospel Choir. “The pool, every year, is more and more competitive, and this year’s final show will be more diverse, not only from a performer perspective, but also from a material content perspective.”

During the performance, each participant will sing one solo, one duet, and one trio. The trio is a new addition to the final contest. Along with a 20-piece band and backup singers, “there will be singing, dancing, videos, and as always, some surprises,” says Cunningham.

The show begins at 8 p.m. on March 7 in Spaulding. The winner will receive a $500 prize, and the opportunity to record a two-song demo. Second place will receive $250, and third place will earn $100. Finalists will be judged on vocal performance, musicality, and stage presence, and the winner will be decided by an audience vote.
