Betsinger has more than two decades of experience as a researcher and statistical analyst in support of higher education policy decision-makers. Most recently she was a lead project manager for the UT System Productivity Dashboard, an interactive public database designed to offer extensive data on productivity and efficiency at all of the colleges within the UT system.

“Alicia has an extensive background collecting, managing, and analyzing statistical data to drive policy-making decisions within higher education,” says Interim Provost and Vice Provost for Research Martin Wybourne. “Her work has been at the forefront of developments in the field of institutional research. I am very glad she’s joining our team at Dartmouth.”

As associate provost for institutional research, Betsinger will work on behalf of the provost in collaboration with senior leadership to collect data and perform analysis that promotes academic quality and accountability.

“I am thrilled to offer my analytic skills and data expertise to support the implementation of Dartmouth’s strategic vision,” Betsinger says. “I look forward to working with faculty and administrators in their efforts to improve students’ educational experiences and outcomes.”

Wybourne thanked Lynn Foster-Johnson for her dedicated service as interim director of institutional research. “Lynn did an excellent job to support the strategic planning process and to meet the many challenges of effective institutional reporting. We thank her for her leadership during a period of transition and look forward to working closely with her in the future.”

Betsinger was hired following a national search. A Dartmouth advisory committee assisting with the search was chaired by Roger Sloboda, the Ira Allen Eastman Professor in Biology, and included Associate Professor of Linguistics Christiane Donahue and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Rick Mills.

Betsinger received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Louis University, and earned a master’s and PhD in applied experimental psychology from Saint Louis University. She will assume her new role in mid-April.

Her husband, Daniel Schroeder, a research scientist at the Ray Marshall Center for the Study of Human Resources in Austin, Texas, and her son, Gabe, plan to relocate to the Upper Valley after the end of the school year.

”Growing up in the Midwest, I had sorely missed the changing seasons while living in Austin for the last 20 years, so I convinced my husband and 10-year-old son to embark on this wonderful adventure. We are excited to explore the mountains and other natural areas in and around the Hanover area," Betsinger says.
