The researchers found that in the United States, 60 percent of children ages 10-14 have a television in their bedrooms. “This obesity risk factor accounts for over 15 million pounds of excess weight gain per year among U.S. adolescents,“ says Diane Gilbert-Diamond, the study’s lead researcher and an assistant professor of community and family medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine.
