Nine Geisel School of Medicine students and one student from Thayer School of Engineering were named 2014-15 New Hampshire-Vermont Schweitzer Fellows by the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, named for the famous physician-humanitarian.
The new Schweitzer Fellows will join approximately 220 other Schweitzer Fellows across the nation in developing and implementing service projects that address the root cause of health disparities in under-resourced communities, while at the same time fulfilling their academic responsibilities as full-time students. Each project is implemented in collaboration with a community-based organization.
This year’s Schweitzer Fellows from Geisel are Cristina Alcorta, Kimberly Betts, Nicole Moraco, Escar Kusema, Jose Porras, TingJia Lorigiano, Emi Manuia, Lars Matkin, and David Whitehead.
The Schweitzer Fellow from Thayer School is Rachel Glikin.
