As May turns toward June, spring term is wrapping up and Commencement and reunions are on their way. Here is a look at some of the upcoming events at Dartmouth.
May 29-31: The Leslie Center for the Humanities and the Department of Philosophy invite the community to the 45th annual meeting of the Husserl Circle, an international gathering of scholars of phenomenology. Conference sessions continue Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 29-31, and take place in Haldeman 041 beginning at 9 a.m. each day. A related exhibition runs through June 2 in Berry Main Street of Baker-Berry Library; catch it before it closes.
May 31: A symposium sponsored by lifelong learning institute Osher@Dartmouth and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI) asks a pressing question: “Health Care Reform: Can the Upper Valley Be a Model For the Nation?” Speakers include Don Berwick, founder, Institute for Healthcare Improvement; Elliott Fisher, director, TDI; Al Mulley, director, The Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery Science; and Sara Kobylenski, executive director, the Upper Valley Haven. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. in the Hanover Inn Ballroom.
June 3: “Photography and the American Scene” is the title of a Hood Museum of Art Lunchtime Gallery Talk starting at 12:30 p.m. at the museum. The presentation by Brian Miller, a senior lecturer of studio art, is part of a series about the exhibition “In Residence: Contemporary Artists at Dartmouth,” which showcases the work of more than 80 artists who have taken part in Dartmouth’s acclaimed artist-in-residence program since 1931.
June 5-15: Dartmouth Class Reunions, sponsored by Alumni Relations, begin June 5. Welcome Home!
June 6: Jessica Hamblen of the Geisel School of Medicine and the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) presents a talk at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, Vt., starting at 12:30 p.m. PTSD self-help tools will be demonstrated during the hour prior to the talk.
June 6-8: The full range of Commencement Weekend events—awards ceremonies, Class Day exercises, Investitures, receptions, Baccalaureate, and the academic proceedings of Commencement itself—are listed on the Dartmouth Commencement website.
