In a recent Upshot blog for The New York Times, Assistant Professor of Government Brendan Nyhan writes that the belief that there is widespread voter fraud in the United States is much more common than voter fraud itself.

Citing polls and other investigations that turned up no evidence of voter fraud, Nyhan concludes that “we can safely classify widespread voter fraud as a misperception—and one that is far more prevalent than the practice itself.”
