Geisel School of Medicine researchers say a parasite that can be found in the intestines of cats may be used to create a cancer vaccine, reports International Business Times.

Although it can cause severe infections in people with compromised immune systems, scientists say the parasite, T gondi, could “do its magic” in people with healthy immune systems, the Times reports.

“We know biologically this parasite has figured out how to stimulate the exact immune response you need to fight cancer,” David Bzik, a professor of immunology and microbiology at Geisel, tells the Times.
