During the spring term, the group delivered more than 2,200 pounds of food to the Haven, the article notes. “It goes out as fast as it comes in and it gets chowed down,” Michael Brand, a staff member at the Haven, told the Valley News. “It’s disturbing how bad the need is. Dartmouth is so good to this place. It’s quite a partnership.”
After an internship last summer with the Upper Valley Housing Coalition, Charnin-Aker began developing his plan to start Dartmouth Feeding Neighbors. “It made me see that people were choosing to pay rent over food for their children,” he told the Valley News. “I started thinking about what I could do to help out.”
