Sexual assault on college campuses is “a problem that can and must be solved,” U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster ’78 told those gathered Sunday for the opening of the Dartmouth Summit on Sexual Assault, reports The Boston Globe.

“Summits and conferences and hearings lead to awareness and policy but mean nothing without a true change in behavior and that takes leadership. As a nation we will reach a tipping point where nonconsensual sexual encounters on our college campuses are a thing of the past,” Kuster told the audience.

The summit continues this week, drawing more than 270 participants from over 50 colleges and universities, national experts in the field, and officials from the White House and the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Education.
