The Dartmouth Athletics Department recently launched an innovative virtual tour of the College’s athletic and recreational facilities. “With more than $100 million in new and renovated facilities in recent years, we were looking for an effective way to showcase those upgrades to talented prospects and their families,” says Dartmouth Director of Athletics and Recreation Harry Sheehy. “We think the virtual tour will help show prospective student-athletes that this is truly an extraordinary place.”

The tour features 39 current student-athletes serving as guides, representing all 34 Division I varsity sports as well as club sports, intramurals, physical education, fitness, and other recreational activities. One tour stop highlights the Dartmouth Peak Performance initiative, which enables varsity athletes to reach their potential academically, athletically, and personally.

“The admissions office launched a terrific virtual tour of the campus earlier this year, and our tour is intended to be a perfect complement to that experience,” says Deputy Athletics Director Bob Ceplikas ’78, the project’s coordinator. Visitors can move seamlessly between the campus tour and the athletics tour, both of which are designed and hosted by YouVisit.

Users can go to specific areas of interest to listen to student guides, see high-resolution images, view 360-degree panoramas, and watch HD videos. Although the tour can be seen on most smart phones and tablets, it is best viewed on a laptop or desktop computer to take advantage of all the interactive features.
