Dartmouth’s 99 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) is the highest in the nation among NCAA Division I institutions, according to data released by the NCAA. This is the third consecutive year that Dartmouth has held the No. 1 position. This year, Dartmouth shares the top spot with College of the Holy Cross and the University of Notre Dame.
“Dartmouth student-athletes strive for success in every aspect of their lives, and our institution is so proud of their consistent academic achievement,” says Dartmouth Director of Athletics and Recreation Harry Sheehy. “Our faculty, deans, campus colleagues, and Dartmouth Peak Performance staff all play a role in our student-athletes’ development. Measures like this are a wonderful example of the comprehensive excellence we expect from everyone associated with Dartmouth Athletics.” Each spring, the NCAA releases a separate set of data, the Academic Progress Rate (APR), which measures both academic performance and retention. Each athletic program receives an APR score, with teams falling under a certain threshold subject to penalties such as loss of scholarships and postseason bans. The top 10 percent in each sport receives APR Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA. Last June, Dartmouth had more programs honored than any other school in Division I for the third consecutive year, with 26 teams recognized. Dartmouth is the only Division I school ever to lead the nation in both GSR and APR in the same year. This is the third year in a row that Dartmouth has been No.1 in both.
