A new study co-authored by Dartmouth’s Jason Houle indicates that chronically ill middle-aged homeowners who grow sicker as they grow older are particularly susceptible to losing their homes to foreclosure, reports The Washington Post.

“The bigger theme remains: Can we break the link between becoming ill and becoming financially devastated? The recession was a good case study to explore this larger question,” Houle, an assistant professor of sociology, tells the Post.
