Quoted: H. Gilbert Welch on Testing and Risk

Dartmouth Now takes note when faculty and other members of the community weigh in on issues of the day. Here is today’s “Quoted”:

“Many health risks you hear about are exaggerated. Interventions to reduce average risks can create as many problems as they solve,” says H. Gilbert Welch, who is quoted in Jane Brody’s recent New York Times column about what really determines how healthy a person is.

Welch is a professor of medicine at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice and at the Geisel School of Medicine.
