“I think there are some people who are reluctant to diagnose it because it has been controversial,” says Philip Kinsler, an adjunct associate professor of psychiatry at the Geisel School of Medicine, in a U.S. News & World Report story about dissociative identity disorder, a condition that was once known as multiple personality disorder.
