Orwell in America, written by Visiting Associate Professor of Theater Joseph Sutton, offers a new perspective on the famous essayist, novelist, journalist, and critic, “in part by imagining a trip he never took,” writes Seven Days in a review of the world premiere of the play, produced by Northern Stage in White River Junction, Vt., and starring Professor of Theater Jaime Horton as Orwell.
“A play about a historical character is only relevant if it’s timely, if it has something to say to us,” Professor of Theater Peter Hackett ’75, director of Orwell in America, tells the newspaper. “What attracted me is that the themes and the politics [of Sutton’s play] are unbelievably contemporary.”
The show runs through March 29.
