“Our findings show placental arsenic concentrations reflect both maternal and fetal biomarker concentrations,” says Tracy Punshon, a research assistant professor of biological sciences, in a U.S. News & World Report story about a Dartmouth study that shows a pregnant woman’s placenta can be tested to provide a measure of exposure to arsenic in both mother and child.

Punshon was lead author on the study, which was published recently in the Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology, the magazine notes.
