While doing fieldwork in Ethiopia, Dartmouth’s Vivek Venkataraman, a PhD student in ecology and evolutionary biology, and his research team noticed something very unusual happening among wolves and monkeys: The wolves had more success in hunting rodents when gelada monkeys (a type of baboon) were around, reports AskMen. At the same time, the monkeys seemed to tolerate the presence of the wolves, often standing very near them for hours at a time, reports the website.
