The 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are still a year away, but it’s not too soon to start keeping an eye on a few rising stars, reports Sports Illustrated. On its list of athletes to watch is Madison Hughes ’15, a former collegiate star and now captain of the U.S. national rugby sevens team, which qualified for the Rio Olympics by winning the North America Caribbean Rugby Association Sevens Championship in June.
“Hughes, who has been making his name as captain and scrum half for the U.S. national team and Men’s Eagles Sevens, led the World Rugby HSBC Sevens World Series tournament with 65 points and seven five-point tries as the U.S. won its first world rugby sevens world series title,” writes the magazine.
