“Dartmouth football’s preseason MVP stands only about 5 feet 10 inches, weighs less than 150 pounds, runs an OK 4.9 in the 40-yard dash, and can’t do a single jumping jack,” writes The Boston Globe. “Yet with all those mundane stats, Big Green coach Buddy Teevens believes his freshman recruit, born right on the bucolic Hanover, N.H., campus, might be the best thing to happen to football since the tackling dummy.”
The recruit in question, explains the Globe, is the wheeled, self-righting, remotely controlled Mobile Virtual Player (MVP), developed at Thayer School of Engineering, which premiered on the opening day of football practice.
