Today is the birthday of one of Dartmouth’s most beloved alumni, Theodor Geisel ’25, aka Dr. Seuss, and CNN is celebrating—in rhyme, of course:
By high school he was doing art
His cartoon style set him apart.
Soon our Ted was a Dartmouth grad
He paid his rent by drawing ads
So reads part of the tribute to the Cat in the Hat author, whose last book, What Pet Should I Get?, was published posthumously last year. Geisel died in 1991, at the age of 87.
The verse concludes:
So let’s pour a glass of milk, or juice
And raise a toast to Dr. Seuss.
His books, they sit on all our shelves.
Today, he’d be 112!
