Poet Rose McLarney, author of Its Day Being Gone and The Always Broken Plates of Mountains, has been named the 2016 Dartmouth Poet in Residence at The Frost Place, reports the Caledonian Record.
“The Frost Place Poet in Residence Program has been in place since 1977. It supports working poets by providing them the space and time to devote to their craft,” writes the newspaper. “Every year, a poet is selected from a group of applicants based on the quality of her/his work to live and work in the historic house where Robert Frost lived from 1915–1920. In 2011, The Frost Place and Dartmouth College honored their shared connections with Robert Frost by renaming the residency program The Dartmouth Poet in Residence at The Frost Place.
“Former Frost Place resident poets include: Robert Haas, Mary Ruefle, Denis Johnson, Katha Pollitt, and Major Jackson, to name a few,” the newspaper reports.
