“Specifically, we ask if machines are capable of generating sonnets, short stories, or dance music that is indistinguishable from human-generated works, though perhaps not yet so advanced as Shakespeare, O. Henry or Daft Punk,” say Professor Daniel Rockmore and Professor Michael Casey in an essay about an imaginative variation of the Turing Test that they devised, quoted in a Washington Post story about the test.

Rockmore is the William H. Neukom 1964 Distinguished Professor of Computational Science, and Casey is the James Wright Professor of Music and a professor of computer science.
