First held on Sept. 17, 1895, Dartmouth Night was introduced by then-President William Jewett Tucker to give the College a day to invite alumni back to their alma mater and to celebrate their achievements. This more than a-century-old tradition continues with an exciting fall weekend in Hanover that features events for all ages.

A much-anticipated event this year will be a livestream of the Back to Class Lecture, titled “Countdown to Election 2016.” The lecture will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Oct. 29 in Loew Auditorium at the Black Family Visual Arts Center, and if you cannot attend, you can still catch the conversation by logging on to the events page of the Alumni Relations website.

Featuring four renowned faculty members, this homecoming event is not to be missed—no matter how you intend to vote in November.

Moderator Dean Lacy, a professor and chair of the Department of Government and director of the program in politics and law, will be joined by colleagues Daniel Benjamin, the Norman E. McCulloch Jr. Director of the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding; Deborah Brooks, an associate professor of government; and Brendan Nyhan, a professor of government. The four will share their insights about what has been one of the most unpredictable presidential campaign cycles in our nation’s history. The panel will discuss how the country got to this point, what might happen on Nov. 8, and where the outcome of this race could lead the United States in the future.

And of course the popular homecoming weekend bonfire is set for 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 on the Dartmouth Green. The bonfire concludes with a gathering for alumni, families, and friends at the tent in front of Blunt Alumni Center, where there will be refreshments and a chance to mingle with alumni from around the globe.
