Beginning Thursday, all students—including undergraduates and graduate and professional school students—will be invited to take a confidential survey documenting sexual misconduct. The information collected in the survey will assist the College in fostering a healthy and safe campus environment.

The work is part of the ongoing Moving Dartmouth Forward initiative, begun two years ago by President Phil Hanlon ’77. On Thursday, students will receive an email with an individualized link to a web-based form. They will have three weeks, or through May 25, to complete the survey, which will take at least 15 minutes.

“I encourage all students to participate in the survey,” says Provost Carolyn Dever. “We are working to make the Dartmouth campus safer and more inclusive, and every bit of information we gather helps further that goal.”

The survey follows a similar assessment students completed in 2015 along with students at 27 other universities in the United States and Canada, done in conjunction with the Association of American Universities. While this year’s survey is being conducted by Dartmouth alone, results from the AAU survey provide a baseline against which the new results may be measured. The results from this year’s survey will be made public in the fall.

The survey is being administered by the Office of Institutional Research. Participants will receive an Amazon gift code worth $10.
