Women’s Track Wins the 2019 New England Championship

The Dartmouth women’s track & field team are the 2019 New England Champions after cruising to victory in the final day of the meet Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

The Big Green finished with 107 points, 33 more than second-place Rhode Island. Leading the way for the team were the Big Green pole vaulters, earning 23 points for Dartmouth in that event alone. Julia Valenti ’20, who won top New England pole vault honors, won with a 3.91-meter-high vault. Brooke Brunet ’21 was second, clearing 3.81 meters, while Olivia Goodwin ’21 took fourth.

Another New England Championship title went to Caroline Walter ’21 in the 400-meter dash. The sophomore clocked 55.94 seconds in the race to take the event crown and earn another 10 points for the team.
