Second-year medical student Sathvik Namburar, Geisel ’22, talks about his appearance on Jeopardy!, which debuted on Nov. 19. (Tune in tonight as he seeks a second win.)

In the video, he says the experience has been “nerve-racking and exciting.”

He also says watching show host Alex Trebek, who has pancreatic cancer, was inspiring. “Alex is so down to earth … and one thing that really sticks with me was, during one of the advertising breaks, the audience, someone asked him a question… what did you learn from dealing with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer?”

Trebek didn’t talk about the cancer or the treatment, says Namburar. “He talked about the kindness his physician showed him. He talked about the kindness that the health care providers showed him. … As a hopeful future health care provider, I just thought that was a tremendous lesson.”
