Hanover, N.H. – Aug. 4, 2020 – Dartmouth remains deeply concerned about the health and well-being of Maha Hasan Alshawi.
In the interest of her safety and in keeping with our commitment to Ms. Alshawi, Dartmouth is launching an external investigation of the allegations she has made. The external investigation will be conducted consistent with our established processes and is in addition to the extensive assessment and multiple reviews Dartmouth has previously undertaken.
The external investigator will contact Ms. Alshawi to explain the process and seek any information she would like to provide.
Dartmouth will make the full investigation findings public, to promote our community’s confidence in the outcome and to fulfill Ms. Alshawi’s calls for transparency.
Our paramount concern is Ms. Alshawi’s health, and we call on her once again to end her protest and provide Dartmouth with documentation that she has received a medical evaluation and treatment, so that we know she is safe.
Dartmouth will have no further comment on Ms. Alshawi’s case until the investigation has concluded.
