During the final nights of this year’s extended winter carnival, the Bema, the open-air amphitheater on the southern end of College Park, was aglow with lights and chiming with ethereal New Age harmonies.

The installation, which was open to students through Sunday evening, featured paths of candles in the snow, purple and blue lights illuminating the trees, and a row of screens displaying an animated forest like doors into a transformed world—providing a welcome retreat in the middle of a challenging winter.
