Students will have the opportunity at a “town hall” meeting on Tuesday to provide feedback on plans to build apartment-style undergraduate housing in the North End of campus.

The meeting is set for Tuesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in One Wheelock, in the Collis Center.

The session follows five community meetings held in July and August to discuss various aspects of the project, which calls for 128 apartment units housing approximately 400 undergraduates to be built on the property, located on Lyme Road, aka Route 10, 1.4 miles north of the Green.

The project will include common areas indoors and out, a fitness facility, and a design that enhances access to the nearby 90-acre Pine Park forest. The location would be a five-minute shuttle ride to the center of campus.

The apartments will add much-needed student residences and a different type of accommodation for undergraduates and allow Dartmouth to renovate existing residence halls over the next 12 to 15 years. Longer term, the flexible design of the North End project will allow it to be converted to graduate student housing, depending on the institution’s needs at that time.

Speaking at Tuesday’s town hall will be Interim Dean of the College Scott BrownVice President of Campus Services and Institutional Projects Josh Keniston, and representatives from Ayers Saint Gross, the architectural firm working with Dartmouth on the project.

Information on the North End project is available on the North End housing website. Comments and questions are welcome at Dartmouth.North.End@dartmouth.edu.
