Gavin Fry ’25 is taking advantage of a weather station at the Shattuck Observatory and other resources at Dartmouth to focus on climate science and meteorology.
A first-generation college student from a small town in southeast Missouri, Fry already sends daily temperature and precipitation data from the observatory to the National Weather Service.
In April, Fry was among 413 college and university sophomores and juniors from across the country to receive Goldwater Scholarships to support their pursuit of research careers in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics. Last year he was named a Louis V. Gerstner Jr. Scholar in a program at Dartmouth that benefits high-achieving, first-generation students with a demonstrated interest in STEM fields.
Fry talks with video producer Chris Johnson about how, at Dartmouth, he is following both the weather and his dreams.
