With temperatures remaining crisp and cold, the ice rink on the Green opened to the Dartmouth community and the general public on Thursday, and soon drew skaters.
Along with that good news, Dartmouth also said skates will be available to borrow free of charge from two sources. Students, faculty, and staff can borrow skates from Dartmouth Outdoors in Robinson Hall or the Dartmouth Outing Club House.
Dartmouth community members and area residents can also borrow skates at no cost from Campion Rink in West Lebanon. There, users will need to show a driver’s license and a credit card, which will be charged $50 if the skates are not returned within three days. The Campion skates are being made available through the purchase of skates by the Office of the President and the Hanover Improvement Society, which owns Campion Rink.
Along with students, staff, and faculty, the rink is also open to the general public.
Facilities Operations and Management began work on the 70-foot by 120-foot rink last month.
The rink will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Lights will be turned on at sunset and turned off around 9 p.m.
Children must be accompanied by an adult, and skates are required for those on the ice.
