The popular Tour Tuesdays program returns this fall with a lineup that will let visitors rummage through fossils in the paleoanthropology lab, hear how researchers in the Environmental DNA Lab use dust, fur, and other material to analyze biodiversity patterns, and explore Rauner Special Collections Library.
The free 30- to 90-minute tours are open to the public, including Upper Valley community members, staff, faculty, students, and other visitors. The series starts on Oct. 8, with a look at the DEV Studio, which helps faculty and students with research using augmented and virtual reality.
The tours, which continue through Nov. 12, build on the success of the initial series. Nearly 600 people went on tours offered this past summer.
“We were overwhelmed, in a great way, by the response to the pilot program this summer and are thrilled to expand the showcasing of Dartmouth’s research and resources through the fall program and beyond,” says Heather Drinan, director of state government relations and community outreach.
The fall schedule also includes opportunities to take a guided walk through the historic Old Dartmouth Cemetery, learn more about Greek life at Dartmouth, and check out equipment used to sequence human and mouse genomes in the Genomics lab.
Registration is required, and waitlists will be available if the tours fill up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
