Associate Professor of Earth Sciences Justin Strauss and fellow researchers flew by helicopter to the Mackenzie Mountains in Canada’s Northwest Territories this summer as part of an ongoing National Science Foundation project.
They collected fossils of what are believed to be sponges, and which could prove to be the earliest record of animal life on Earth.
